Distributed Computing, What is it? DC is a science which solves a large problem by giving small bits of the problem to many computers to solve, and then combine all those bits into a solution for the problem. Recent DC projects have been deisgned to use hundreds of thousands of computers from people just like you and me. These projects like looking for extra terrestrial radio signals, looking for prime numbers so large they have more than ten million digits, to finding more effective drugs to fight AIDS and Cancer. These projects are so large and would require so much computing power that it would be impossible for any one computer or person to solve in a resonable amount of time.
