Antivirus & Spyware Information,
Virus infection, Spyware infection, Adware infection, they're everywhere. About 95% of the computers that come into our office have one if not all of these issues.
What you need to do to protect yourself is 1: Enusre you have Antivirus software. We recommend and sell Panda Titanium 2005 $49.95 with one year subscription (Protects against virus, spyware and adware and includes a built in firewall) 2: Ensure you have the latest updates for your antivirus software, and the latest signiture files as well (Panda updates their signature file every day, sometimes multiple updates in one day!).
You can perform a free up to date virus scan by going to http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan. Even if you have other antivirus software installed, you'll be suprised what some of them miss. What have you got to lose? It's free! If you are using other software and panda does find virus infection, we'd highly recommend swithing to panda, we already have.
Now onto spyware and adware. We use both the following and suggest you do the same. After downloading these two programs, ensure to check for updates before scanning. Run one, then the other and you'll be amazed at what they find.

Don't be fooled by Spyware Pop-ups directing you to download their software to clean your system. If it comes up in a pop up chances are it's not a good thing.
Remeber that once you've cleaned your system up from virus, spyware and adware infections, that it's an ongoing process. Be careful where you surf, what you download and most of all, free software isn't always what it appears. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Yes the two programs above are free as is the scan, but we use them on a daily basis and I assure you they are safe for your personal use.
Happy and safe surfing - depending on your surfing habits will determine how often you should run these programs. If you start getting pop-ups again, go ahead and run them again.
